Stalybridge and Dukinfield Bowls Club: making the facility more accessible

Active Tameside commissioned Build My Bid to support voluntary sector organisations delivering sport and physical activity across the borough. Over the past two years, the contract has placed particular emphasis on helping sports clubs strengthen their facilities so they can welcome more people from their communities.
As part of this work, Build My Bid supported Stalybridge and Dukinfield Bowls Club to secure a £60,000 grant for improvements to its facility. The project will add an accessible toilet, improve access and upgrade amenities for disabled participants.
For the club, these improvements are about more than the building. They will make it easier for disabled people to take part in bowls and community activities in a setting that better meets their needs. The award also shows the value of investing in the infrastructure of local voluntary clubs: practical facility improvements can help them open their doors to more people.
